Can stress cause hives?

I am full of hives... and have been extremely stressed out lately. Now the stress is not going to end anytime soon (I found out the reason my dad died in april was from a medication overdose administered to him in the hospital, I found that out friday, broke out in hives saturday), so if it can cause hives, how do I get rid of the hives?
Answer:
Stress DEFINITELY causes hives; I went through it myself during a really tough school project this year (I was a high school senior). I took the Benadryl that's used for allergies, and that helped reduce the hives. Also, if the hives keep coming back a lot, you may want to go to see a doctor; they can prescribe steroids which help keep your immune system from attacking and causing hives. Hope this helps you out! Feel better soon!

PS- Taking an oatmeal bath helps with the itching a LOT. : )
Yes, hives can be from an allergy or stress. You can only get rid of them by just letting them go away. Some times Calamine lotion will help stop the itching.
yes it can, i also went through a stressful time and i started getting hives i went to my doctor and he told me it happens, there nothing really you can do to get rid of them but you can put benaderyl itch cream on them...
Yes! prednisone, just a few days of it will get hives under control the quickest.

Yes, there is a lot of side effects with this drug but so what (my opinion) the med works like magic and hives are better by the end of the day (for me).

Dont want to go to the doctor? yea, then I'd take benadryl and get a good book or CD on stress control. But start thinking now..I am so relaxed, every good thing is coming to me, I am so happy and grateful that I have control over my emotions.

Man becomes what he thinks about..what outcome do you want from all this?? Ask for it and feel now how great you will feel when this happens.

Hope this helps..hang in there hun:)
